The goal
Vinay Hiremath, Co-Founder and CTO, recognized that his technology would require patents to continually support clients such as Uber, LinkedIn, Airbnb, and Dropbox. APA took Loom’s formative ideas (formerly known as Opentest) and protected them by filing both provisional and non-provisional patent applications, effectively blocking competitors and imitators from stealing market share. Later, the patents were instrumental in the acquisition by Atlassian for $975 Million.
Vinay was particularly pleased with the speed of customer service, a notable accolade given Loom’s fast-paced product development. With American Patent Agency supporting an agile patent process, Loom could continue to innovate in online video communication while safeguarding the ideas behind their solutions.
